Are you still searching for a business that sparks a fire within you? Are you looking at businesses based on other people’s passions, thinking that if you do the business you will have the same passion and success as them? The first thing that you need to know is that you bring passion to the business; the business doesn’t bring passion to you. For many though, the problem is that they don’t know what their passion is or how to find it. This is one of the reasons why most networkers have had “experience” with several different businesses.
Many think that with each business venture that “This is the one!” and if they can make themselves excited enough, they will be successful. So they make their “list” and do lots of 3-ways, have parties, and tap out their warm markets. When the response is not what they hoped for, many get discouraged, get bored, and get distracted by the next exciting business. Then the cycle begins again. The key to success in any business is “stick-to-it-tive-ness”. That is the thing that makes you get through the discouragement and helps you ignore the distractions. But, you have to have passion to have “stick-to-it-tive-ness”. So now the question is how do you find your passion?
Here is a way many may not have thought of. As we go through life trying to figure out what it is that we are passionate about, we overlook the prefect indicator. We as women have been taught to not always accept a compliment easily. So we sometimes wave them off and never really take them to heart. I don't mean that you should be arrogant or vain. Just take a moment to look at what is behind the compliment. Pay particular attention to the compliments that you always get and the ones that you get from strangers.
People tend to compliment us on things that we find effortless, things that we don’t even think about. That is probably the very thing that you need to look at. Think about what it is that you were complimented on and see how you can take that talent and use it to create a business or use it in your current business.
For example, you are always complimented on your make-up. Maybe you should look into a cosmetics company. Here's another example, you have been complimented on your ability to speak well in public. A career in motivational speaking or training may be a good place to start. If you have a knack for organizing, you would do well in starting an organization company or if you are also good at finance, you could be a very successful working with a financial planning company. I know this all sounds logical. The problem is that we tend to go into a completely opposite field than what our passion is.
The point I am trying to make is, that instead of trying businesses
just because they sound good and look interesting, we should look at the business in relation to our passion. Then we will leap over the hurdles that sometimes block us. A company could be fabulous and very lucrative, but if you are not passionate about it, you won’t really have long tem success.
So take time learn who you are and start with the complements that you receive. From there you will find your passion which will lead to a business that you would do even if you didn’t get paid for it. There you will find success.
