How priceless, how amazing, this position of “Mother”. If there were a job description for this position it would be too long to read. If someone were to ask you what it required you may fire off a list of things you do or you may be speechless, overwhelmed at the thought. Stop for a minute and think about how you perceive this roll. How does the world perceive it? How do your friends define it? I dare say there are many answers depending on who you talk to. However, the most important thing… Continue

It seems like there are so many things in my life now that are just... getting started. So many changes and adjustments and new growth, and I find myself scrambling to devise a new plan, or make a new list, just try to make everything flow and make sense.
I am about to quit my job. I ahve worked here for 8 years. It was my first job and I have loved it so much. But now it is time to say goodbye, and it's a very strange feeling.
I am about to have my first baby. He is due…

I just got word a couple of days ago that a friend of a friend's daughter was flown to Dallas to be admitted to pediatric ICU last Thursday with the same illness (HUS) that Aiden contracted when he was 4 months old. I believe her baby girl is around 15 months old. She is undergoing treatments similar to Aiden's...surgery/dialysis/ventilator etc. I don't know much because I do not personally know the family. My friend has asked me if I would mind emailing her and sharing our experience. Of…

Let me encourage you to raise your expectations; start seeing yourself receiving good things. Expect the favor of God. Expect His blessings. Expect to increase. Expect promotion. Get up and face each day with enthusiasm, knowing that God has great things in store for you. And even when circumstances don't go your way, don't let that get you down. Keep your ming set in the right direction!

Well, here I am! I have joined a group that I hope can help me and in turn, allow me to help others. I know that everything in life happens for a reason, and that everything is meant to be. That is sometimes difficult to understand, but I am repeating it to myself daily!
Anyone who has been through a divorce knows that even if the two parties are ready for it, one will be hurt more than the other. It's inevitable. For instance, my now ex already has a child on the way with a girl he…

....it's true...here I am going on 2 weeks now of "fighting the funk" I can't stand when I feel this way. I'm normally a pretty happy-go-lucky type of gal. I am so very thankful for the blessings in my life (big and small)...but for some reason the past few weeks i'm gloomy and very eeyore-ish. Blah.
I'm fed up with feeling and looking overweight and out of shape. It's summer time...I want to feel good about myself and enjoy swimming, sunny, being outdoors, etc without being…

One of the things that I've learned in life is that the lessons that I've learned the hard way are the ones that I've truly learned. Over and over, I've found it to be true that when I've made a wrong choice, it ultimately causes me pain. This is the key reason why we become wiser as we get older. It's not because are brains suddenly get bigger, or because there's a Wisdom…

I haven't had a chance to write a new blog yet... but I didn't want to miss out on sharing with you all! Life has been so busy lately... it makes for so much to write about and less time to do it :-) So, for those of you who would like to know more... here is an older blog post. Quite a bit older, dated back to April 23, 2007.
Wow, what an incredible experience. I just tucked Aliyah into her pretty decorated crib, into the sheets that I made my husband take me… Continue

So I was in bed last night thinking.....isn't it funny how we fool ourselves into thinking we are in control of our lives? I remember when David and I were trying to get pregnant with no results for almost a year. I was heart-broken because there was nothing I could do to fix it. We had to trust God and pray about it...then when my precious baby was 4 months old and everything was going just as I thought it should...BAM! out of no where we were blindsided. Aiden became critically ill after…

Well, I have wanted to start blogging for a while, but never have! So, I thought I would start by sharing about my Son Dylan. He has been struggling with school since day 1. He is now 9yrs. old and things are starting to turn around! He has such an awesome gift with people. I know God is going to use him in an awesome way! Well, this month he got student of the month, 100% on a very tough spelling test and Eagle of the month (school wide student of the month.) I am so proud of him!! I thank God…

Victor Serebriakoff was born in the slums of East London. It was obvious that Victor was different than most children. While other kids were playing, he spent most of his time studying and asking questions at every chance. Even though he was a good student,
Victor was ridiculed and labeled a dunce by the other kids because of his inquisitive nature. “I was chased home from school every day because I was the kid who put his hand up at every question,” he recalled. Circumstances finally…

Congratulations to
Dee Jansen, our 100th member of the EMwomen Community, as well as
Donna Wuerch, who invited her! Our team sat in the final hours of the night awaiting that one hundredth person to join, wondering who it would be. When Dee popped online, we shouted for joy and celebrated our first goal met. The dream has taken off and we are setting our sights on seeing over a…

Approximately 250 Georgia children with special needs (which includes, by definition, any child over the age of 5) are available at any given time to be adopted. Unfortunately, most of these children are raised in temporary foster homes, where on the average of every eighteen months they are moved to a new home and given a new set of parents.…

Ok, shout out to my buddy, Paula Broadbent this week. She and I took a little trip to Dallas, where I introduced her to one of my wholesale accesory stores. It is simply the most amazing wholesale store, full of thousands of items of jewelry, purses, belts, etc. It is truly an experience to walk into the store and see items that other stores would sell for over a hundred dollars on sale for twenty. When I take someone with me, I love watching…

For those of you who have never heard of Fine Arts, it's an annual festival and youth from different churches around the area participate in this. It's a chance to minister to people by doing what u do best. Singing, acting, dancing, drama, playing instruments... people can even enter photos and poems, even short stories and essays. There are tons of categories you can enter- my youth group performed in the large(10 person) human video. A human video is somewhere in the middle of dance and…

wow! This is such a fun time for me! Aiden is 10 1/2 months now and it seems he does something new every single day. He keeps us laughing around here. It's hard to believe that a few short months ago he was this tiny thing that just layed there and cooed....now he is ALL over the place! Into EVERYTHING..babbling nonstop..giving "sugars" and loves...clapping....I am so blessed to get to experience this! Thank God for my sweet baby boy!

Dear Tricia, I noticed you are an award winning author. Can you give me advice on securing a publishing deal? - Lisa
Dear Lisa,
How to secure a publishing deal? To be honest, my publishing deal came to me through prayer. I prayed for a publisher for my book and visualized being accepted and through the visualizing, I could feel the excitement. I kept hanging onto that excitement and at the same time thanking God for a publisher. After writing and sending out 50…

Good morning!!! Anyone have any spare sunshine they can send me?? It's raining cats and dogs here..and has been since yesterday evening. Figures..I bought Aiden a wading pool Sunday and it's been chilly and/or raining ever since...maybe I should take it back and see what happens with the weather? haha! I guess we'll be keeping it close to home today even though I desperately need to get to Walmart or Brookshires for a can of formula....ugh! Surely there will be a rain break soon...this is…

Recently one of our EMwomen Community members opened up to share her challenge with depression and voices that have recently lead her to thoughts of suicide. Knowing that depression is a majory issue facing women across America and the world, I felt it important to open this as a discussion fo us all.
Question: Is there anything I can do to stop this urge of suicide?
Answer: First let me introduce myself. I am Staci Wallace, the founder of EMwomen and I feel you at this…
