First Blog post

Okay, so here it is. My first blog post.

I have a lot of thoughts running through my head (what's new?), but no idea

how exactly to put them into clear, comprehensible sentences. But I will try.

So I started second semester of university, and all I can say it's amazing sometimes how things

shift around. Last semester I was all worried about making friends and getting good grades (which for me at that moment was not failing).

But now, I realize, that those things don't… Continue

What a glorious day!

Best day of the week has to be Friday. For no matter how busy and stressed you still have the whole weekend to look forward to.
Here in Arkansas the sun is shinning and the temp is just right for January. The only way it could be better would be if we were
headed to Tx to see the family or if they were headed this way. Thank God for phones and pics.

The 360 Degree Leader

We have to all come to understand that great leadership is not reserved for someone who has a title after their name. Real leadership is being a person of influence. When I began studying on leadership, this fact revolutionized my way of thinking about leadership. When I thought of leadership I thought of those in a position to be leader. The Boss, the pastor, the teacher, the husband......

John C. Maxwell has written a book titled,… Continue

Personal Responsibility & What It Means For Each of Us

Written the day before we voted in this year's election:

Okay so here's the deal. The night I watched Barack Obama's DNC Acceptance Speech I realized that it was time for me to "Do Something"!! I have had dreams for years of empowering women/girls and on the day that I heard the following words and watched Obama's speech, I realized that just like Obama, I could do something to make a difference in this world. On that night I heard these words, which struck a cord with… Continue

How to Stop the Spread of America’s Most Dangerous Pandemic - Narcissism

There was a time when I used to be amazed at the number of seemingly grown men who were unwilling to be responsible for their own lives and for those of the families they made. Like everyone else, I’ve seen the increasing dismal statistics of fatherlessness in the American community. I would even go so far as to say there is pandemic manlessness as well. Men in our extended families are also becoming increasingly rare. What seems to be commonplace now are families with lots of women, young… Continue

Why Ask Why?

In the great mental vacuum of psychobabble and matching talk shows, seems to be an endless string of people from failed relationships asking “why”. “Why didn’t I get my promised phone call?” “Why weren’t they where they said they were going to be?” “Why did they lie to me?” “Why did they cheat on me?” Why, why, why, why!!! These pointless inquiries are usually followed by some mention of “closure” as if having “closure” somehow changes the end results. My question is why ask why?

The… Continue

Pros and Cons of Sex Before Marriage

What To Do, What To Do?

This question won't be going anywhere any time soon. As long as there are people with rushing hormones, this is going to be an issue. Many will blame the animal in us (particularly men - sorry fellas- smile); others will blame our histories; still others will create their own philosophies.

However, there are some things I have noticed that I don't see anyone else discussing. For example, anatomically speaking, all the reasons that sex is good… Continue

Why Do So Many Men Like Porn?

Lessons For Women

Women have wondered forever what it is about porn that mesmerizes so many men. Some of us have tried to participate with our partners only to find ourselves feeling like Hell afterwards. Others of us have found ways to make it part of our sexual lexicon with mixed results.

Let's face it. Outside of the industry, it is difficult at best for a couple to comfortably fit porn into their relationship. Men, on the other hand, generally have no problem… Continue

Do I Have to Forget to Forgive?

Amnesia is Impossible. Now What?

Hurt feelings happen. Pain is a fact of life. Get used to it. It's not going anywhere. Create a strategy for dealing with it right now and spare yourself years and years of needless pain.

The good news is hurt feelings are not fatal. You don't have to die from your pain. Pain doesn't have to be a lifestyle. Contentment and happiness can be made in spite of it. The real question is, are you willing to do what it takes to have… Continue

Love Is A Choice - NOT An Emotion

Like most people, I have often heard the all-too-common refrains, "you can't help who you love", "it just happened", or "one thing led to another". Most often, I hear this from women who are attempting to justify their ill-advised involvement in some situation that has come back to bite them in the behind.

Ladies, I'm about to set you free!! None of these assessments is accurate. The truth is - you absolutely, unequivocally "help" who you love; it… Continue

Putting myself back on the list!

I watch Oprah a few weeks ago and one thing I remember her saying she was “putting her self back on her to do list”. I got so caught up in building a business, developing a new marriage, that I put myself on the bottom of the list. I quit exercise, stop preparing healthier meals and started eating fast food! Because I stop taking care of me I gain over 30 pound (WOW) just to day that is painful but I am not ashamed! Before the New Year had begun I started getting back in the grove of exercising… Continue

Keeping up with female consumers

By now we all know women are world-class consumers, making or influencing 85 percent of all purchases and 91 percent of home purchases. Given these statistics, don’t women deserve a little attention? In the 1970s, women were purchasing with his money. Today she is purchasing with her money. Knowing that, it’s no surprise that women are dramatically changing how products and services are designed and marketed.

At Real Living , we created the… Continue
