CALLING ALL WOMEN IN BUSINESS!

Have you ever asked yourself, "How can I be more balanced?" "When is the best time to ask for that promotion?" "How can I connect with other like-minded female professionals?" "Is there more I can do to get paid what I am worth?" "Does anyone understand the pressure of being a single mom, working to raise kids on their own?" If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this is a great group for you. The goal of this group is to help women become better equipped to elevate their effectiveness, both at work and home. As career women, the demands on you are great. This group is dedicated to providing useful tools, articles, ideas, thoughts and wisdom to help you succeed in life.

Erica, I know how you feel. I, too, have quite the busy schedule, kids, multiple businesses and non-profit outreaches. The saving grace for our family has been this:

"Setting And Maintaining Core Values"

(Core Values are those things that matter most to you and your family...ie. God, spouse, children, career, health, financial freedom, etc.)

So many times we let ourselves become busy and therefor fail to be effective. When my husband or I start to feel that overwhelmed feeling, we know it's time to stop and take a look at our core values and see what is out of place.

Generally, it is when we are doing things that are not high on our core value list that we feel that frustration or anxiousness. That is when we take a step back and get back to the basics of what matters most to us and God.

For example....when we were working at becoming debt free a number of years ago, we made it a core value to spend less, save more and start investing in our future. When friends would call to go on vacations, take trips, go out for entertainment, we would find our selves looking at our core value to be debt free and kindly decline. We knew that if we stepped out of our core values, we would regret it or feel the pressure of it later.

I hope this helps. I have a chapter devoted to this in my book, "Mission Possible: Unleashing Your Full Potential". You can get it through my website at www.staciwallace.com

Tricia....great info! I am often asked the same question as it relates to recording your first CD or starting a new business. Knowing the failure rate is 95% of most business start-ups, prayer is a great way to put you ahead of the pack. Thank you for your post. I am sure it will remind us all to pray more often and trust God with the details!

How to secure a publishing deal? To be honest, my publishing deal came to me through prayer. I prayed for a publisher for my book and visualized being accepted and through the visualizing, I could feel the excitement. I kept hanging onto that excitement and at the same time thanking God for a publisher. After writing and sending out 50 querie letters to different agents and receiving several replies of interest, I didn't end up going with any of them. Instead I was put in the right place at the right time. It was a banquet and the table I was placed at was a table full of everyone that was anyone in the Canadian book world. By the time dinner was over, I had a publisher for my book, Chain of Miracles. The book was so successful that my second and now my third book were automatically picked up on by the same publisher. God is good! So when I hear writers telling me that it is so hard to get a publisher? I tell them to pray and believe that they have received.

So Tricia, you are having such great success as an author. How about giving our "writers" a few tips. What would say is the best way for a new author to secure a publishing deal?

I love the idea of, "Balancing career, family and life!" Especially today. I am supposed to be packing to leave on a one week book signing tour in the morning and presently trying to multi-task, making supper, packing, laundry, and making sure the house is somewhat presentable for the workers coming to "Keep things going" while we are away.
