“Yes, You Can!”
Last week, my husband, Larry, took our son, Payton to the bank to open his first business account. Larry told Payton the importance of establishing a good relationship with your banker and the importance of presenting yourself with excellence when you meet them for the first time. “The relationship you have with the bank is very important, son.” “Why, Daddy?” Payton asked. “Because they are the ones who are going to be keeping your money for you. Those bankers can be your best friend or your worst enemy. That is why it is important to get to know them well and let them feel a part of your success.”
Payton smiled as if he understood. Together, they went to the bank, dressed for success. they walked in and met the bank executives. Larry told them about Payton’s new T-shirt business as well as his passion for helping the poor. They looked at Payton and said, “Well, son, you are the youngest CEO we have ever had in here.”
Payton smiled with confidence and pride. He sure felt like a big boy now! As they filled out the forms needed to open a business account the bank executive said, “Now all we need is to have a signature. Payton, can you give us a signature?”
Payton just sat there and then looked up to his daddy. Larry spoke up saying, “Sure he can, can’t you, son?” Payton smiled and confidently said, “Yes, sir!”
“Good then.” The man replied and walk out the room to get the final papers for Payton to sign..
As soon as the man left the room Payton nervously asked, “Daddy, What’s a signature?”
Perhaps, like Payton, God is drawing you out of your comfort zone and challenging you to grow in areas you never dreamed possible? Have you ever wondered if you were capable of what is being asked of you?
Much like Payton that day, you never have to worry about whether or not you have everything it takes to be a success. Your “Daddy”, God is sitting with you as you step out into new levels of life with his arm around you saying, “Sure you can!”
Just like Larry was able to assist Payton with unchartered waters, so will God empower you as you step out in faith to a new life of liberty, expectation and success!
