Travelling and Exercise! How do we do it all and not feel behind?

  • Rating: No Rating
Ever had this problem. Just when you get into a consistent routine, you go on vacation and your workouts get all messed up!

Here are a few tips to help you through that this summer:

1- Plan your days ahead for vacation and when you plan on getting your workouts in.
2-Pack workout clothes.
3-Share your plan ahead of time with the person or people you plan on vacationing with (so they realize that this is part of your lifestlye)
4-Get your workout done in the mornings so you have the rest of the day to have fun!
5-Make part of your vacation active by particpating in events, hikes, or tours with your family or friends.

My family this week is visiting my parents at our cottage in Canada. We have a place on the lake that you have to take a boat to....being an avid runner and walker it makes it very difficult to get my cardio in. So I have had to improvise. I did my strength training this morning, I have gone kayaking with my nephews and have spent 20 minutes a day on the trampoline...My workouts will change this week compared to my usual routine and so will yours. You cannot get stressed about the change or how hard it may be to get it all in, just plan ahead and you will have a great active vacation. Do what you can and feel proud about getting something in. It is all about balance.

Challenge of the week:
Keep those abs in tight everytime you think of it and hold for 30 seconds.

Till next time...

Thanks for the tips! Most of us do not eat as healthily while on vacation so it is important to keep up the exercising when we can- a few things I did recently-
1) went rafting with my family and worked those arm muscles!
2) Did some water aerobics I had learned in a class and swam some laps in the pool.
It wasnt much but it was a better than nothing, and now I am back to my regular workout routine at the gym. But I need to get my eating habits back into shape : -)
